We acknowledge that tackling climate change is not a matter for the future but rather a pressing issue that requires immediate action to create a better world. With steel playing a pivotal role as one of the essential materials needed to build a sustainable society, transforming the way we produce steel into an ever greener one is inevitable. As a corporate citizen and leading global steelmaker, we aspire to fulfill our responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint. We set an ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and supporting worldwide collective efforts to align with the Paris Agreement. We believe that ambitious goal will drive our innovation, and we aim to leverage the carbon neutral challenge to create greater value in a low-carbon future. We will also seek opportunities to collaborate with all our stakeholders to build a net-zero society worldwide.
This is our first climate report intended to facilitate communication with all stakeholders by illustrating POSCO's efforts to address climate change. The “POSCO’S DIALOGUE FOR CLIMATE ACTION” illustrates our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including our 2050 carbon neutral goal. It explains our transition pathways toward decarbonization, highlighting innovative technologies and solutions we are developing. The report describes climate-related risks and opportunities with scenario analyses in alignment with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
